Reflection is important, and for me personally, I don’t think I do it enough.
Life, this roller-coaster of good, bad, ups, downs, gain and loss does not always work out the way we intend or plan. What comforts me? The fact that I make plans to do things, and sometimes they end up being a lot greater than my initial intension. However, there’s a saying that gets thrown around – Especially in my office. That is, “Unfortunately, the focus is never really on the good and mostly on the bad.” – We spend a lot of our time trying to correct mistakes, thinking of the “What-Ifs” and waiting for the next opportunity to avoid repetition. But…. Why don’t you have the same approach for when you do good? Why don’t you focus your efforts into waiting for the next opportunity to do better? This is where reflection should enter…
It normally takes a major event for us to reflect what we have been doing, what we are currently doing and what we want to do. Since finishing Uni, I’ve put more efforts into all three aspects… And put most of my efforts into what I want to do. Believe it or not, it actively effects the now influence by what has been.
So what I’m trying to get at? Reflection in a positive way might start to change all those things that don’t seem to be getting any better. I could be wrong, but there’s no harm in seeing for yourself.
